Marketing & Communications Intern - UH NSM Career Center
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Career Center (NSMCC) is seeking a creative, motivated, and dedicated Marketing & Communications Intern to join our nationally recognized team. This is not a typical campus job. You will help shape the brand, voice, and visibility of one of the most innovative career centers in higher education while building a portfolio of real-world marketing, social media, event promotion, and strategic communication projects. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create and manage content for Instagram, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms
• Develop marketing campaigns for career fairs, internship boot camps, workshops, and
employer events
• Design promotional graphics, flyers, digital signage, and marketing materials
• Capture and edit photos and videos at career center events
• Assist with storytelling initiatives highlighting student success, employer partnerships,
and alumni outcomes
• Draft newsletters, announcements, press releases, and promotional content
• Analyze engagement metrics and recommend strategies to increase student
participation
• Collaborate with student leaders, faculty, employers, and university stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
• Current University of Houston student Valenti School of Communication
• Experienced in Advertising, Digital Media, Strategic Communication, Communication
Studies, Media Production, Public Relations or related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Photography, videography, graphic design, or web design experience• Experience with Canva, MS Office Tools, Google Gemini and similar AI and creative
suite platforms
• Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, and social media content creation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
POSITION DETAILS
Compensation: $15.00/hour
Hours: 20 hours per week
