Photo/Video Assistant - The Office of Communications at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS)

The Office of Communications at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic work-study student with photography or videography experience to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for detail. This role will involve assisting with photo and video shoots, contributing to our social media activity and some minor production editing.

This role requires operating camera equipment at various heights and angles, moving around set locations to capture shots, and positioning equipment and props (up to 25 pounds). We will work with qualified candidates to identify reasonable accommodations that enable performance of these essential functions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and creative environment.

Note: Applicants must be eligible for college work-study aid to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist photographer/videographer and content creation team members in photo and video shoots.

  • Move, set up and maintain media equipment for shoots.

  • Ensure all content is polished and professional, paying close attention to detail.

  • Help collect and store signed photo/video release forms.

  • Assist the team’s photographer/videographer during shoots.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn editing software, as needed (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.).

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality work

  • Basic effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience in setting up and organizing media equipment is preferred.

  • Current enrollment in a related field of study (e.g., Photography, Film, Media Arts, Communications) is a plus.

Work Arrangements

  • This is a part-time position with flexible hours to accommodate the student's academic schedule.

  • Interested students must be available to work up to 20 hours weekly during the regular academic semester.

  • Availability during evenings and weekends may occasionally be required for special events or shoots.

Compensation

  • $13/hour based on qualifications and experience
