This student should be a good writer, good at bridging student and professional communities and language, and able to work independently and stay on schedule.

Diverse Voices in Science Journalism Intern - The American Association for the Advancement of Science
The program especially aims to train those who come from, and are committed to covering, communities that have historically been underrepresented in science journalism. The hands-on experience builds interns’ capacity to report on science for a general audience, expanding access to the profession. We invite anyone with a demonstrable interest in issues of diversity in science to apply. Ideal candidates will have experience reporting and writing on deadline and an interest in covering state policy topics, such as health, education, immigration, criminal justice, and the environment, as well as the state’s changing demographics. Our marketing and communications fellows assist in coordinating marketing and media relations for Tribune products, including events and news. They help the MarCom team with copywriting, social media placement, project management and field marketing. They also assist with community outreach efforts through email and phone calls to increase awareness of and attendance at events, and they coordinate media interviews for Tribune reporters.
