Marketing, Communications, Social Media Intern - Houston Children's Charity
Houston Children's Charity is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused, and disabled children who have been otherwise left behind. The scope of our support is limited only by the availability of resources. Our goal is to leave no legitimate request for assistance unanswered.
We seek a Marketing, Communications, & Social Media Intern who is passionate about making a difference in people's lives. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications Director to enhance our social media and marketing endeavors. You will have the chance to develop and execute digital marketing and social media campaigns aimed at bolstering our fundraising initiatives. This entails supporting the implementation of innovative strategies, tactics, and tools within a dynamic, cross-functional team environment comprised of dedicated Houston Children's Charity staff.
The HCC office is located in The Post Oak Hotel Uptown Houston and is open Monday – Friday from 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Internships can be full time or part time. Hours can be flexible to accommodate for class schedules (MUST be available for major events)
*Please Note: This is not a remote position and the internship is unpaid.
Responsibilities
Assist manager with developing, scheduling, and executing Houston Children’s Charity’s presence on online social networking sites (primarily Facebook, Instagram) by posting original, compelling content
Monitor website and make updates or changes as needed
Create digital monthly newsletters to be distributed through Constant Contact
Find new, scalable ways to grow social media following and increase engagement
Assist with other marketing duties including copywriting, website, PR, and partnership marketing as necessary
Assist the marketing/social media manager in capturing and editing event photos, effectively conveying the essence of our mission and impact.
Qualifications
Familiarity with key social media tools (i.e. Facebook, Instagram) with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Hootsuite, Mailchimp, and WordPress.
Must be comfortable with writing, proof reading, and a high level of attention to detail.
Demonstrate self-motivation, confidence, and collaboration, thriving in a role that requires multitasking and creativity.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
