Events and Program Intern - Houston Children’s Charity

Houston Children's Charity is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused, and disabled children who have been otherwise left behind. The scope of our support is limited only by the availability of resources. Our goal is to leave no legitimate request for assistance unanswered.

The Events & Program Intern works within the vision, mission, and philosophy of Houston Children’s Charity and is responsible for assisting in management of HCC programs and events. This role will be flexible between general program duties and events logistics. This position reports to the Program Services Manager, the Special Events Director and Marketing and Community Relations Manager. This position involves daily contact with clients, agencies, and organizations. The ideal candidate possesses skills in project management, understanding target audiences, proofing precision, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with colleagues and vendors. This role is challenging, varied and exciting.

The HCC office is located in The Post Oak Hotel Uptown Houston and is open Monday – Friday from 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Internships can be full time or part time. Hours can be flexible to accommodate for class schedules.

*Please Note: This is not a remote position and the internship is unpaid.

Programs & Special Events Responsibilities

  • Assist with the HCC individual family programs/events including, but not limited to

    • “A Better Night’s Sleep”

    • “HCC Closet”

    • “Chariots for Children”

    • The Christmas program

    • “Adopt-a-Family” program

    • “Back2School”

    • The Christmas and Easter parties

    • Annual Gala & Underwriter party

  • Reaching out to clients when needed

  • Professionally answering phones, communicate clearly and effectively

  • Attending and assisting HCC events to help ensure a successful event

  • Assisting with processing or entering in application information

Qualifications

  • Be able to multi-task and time manage deadlines

  • Flexibility in working alone or with a group

  • Demonstrated proficiency and skill with Microsoft Office applications as well as strong expertise with Excel

  • Be self-motivated, innovative and collaborative, and excel as a multi-tasking, creative, analytical, and quick thinker

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
