Houston Children’s Charity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged, abused, and disabled children throughout the Greater Houston area. Through a variety of programs and community initiatives, HCC works to address the immediate needs of children and families by providing essential resources, support, and opportunities that can make a meaningful and lasting difference in their lives.
HCC partners with donors, volunteers, corporations, and community organizations to serve children across the Houston community. The organization’s programs focus on areas such as basic necessities, mobility and accessibility, educational resources, and other critical needs. Interns have the opportunity to gain hands-on nonprofit experience while contributing to an organization focused on serving children and families throughout Houston.
Job Description
Houston Children’s Charity Summer Interns will participate in a seven-week, hands-on internship designed to provide exposure to the many areas of nonprofit operations and community service. Interns will rotate through departments including fundraising and donor relations, program operations, marketing and communications, event planning and logistics, and volunteer and community engagement. Responsibilities may include assisting with department projects, event preparation, donor and volunteer initiatives, program-related activities, research, administrative support, and other day-to-day nonprofit operations. Interns will be expected to actively participate in each rotation, maintain a professional and positive attitude, and complete a final capstone presentation highlighting what they learned and how Houston Children’s Charity delivers impact throughout the community.
Qualifications
-Must be able to work during the week, during office hours.

Ideal candidates are motivated, dependable, and enthusiastic students with an interest in nonprofit work, community service, event planning, fundraising, marketing, communications, or related fields. Applicants should demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Candidates should be willing to learn, accept direction, adapt to different responsibilities throughout the departmental rotations, and interact respectfully and professionally with staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and families. Previous nonprofit or professional experience is not required; a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and genuine interest in making a difference in the Houston community are highly valued.
