Houston Editorial Intern - PaperCity Magazine

PaperCity is looking for a motivated, eager, creative-minded intern to join our editorial team.  This individual would be somebody who is local to Houston and familiar with our city’s vibrant arts and culture landscape. This internship can be full-time or part-time, but must include in-person work at least 3 days a week. Hours are flexible. Interns are paid a freelancer’s rate per published article.

Internship Responsibilities

  • Writing original articles (this may be a combination of stories assigned to you and stories you will pitch yourself), 4 – 5 times a month

  • Editing articles written by freelance writers, 2 – 3 times a month

  • Assisting our Associate Editor and Executive Editor

  • Working “in the field,” attending and covering events/happenings around town

Experience and Skills

  • Obtained — or working towards — a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, writing, or other relevant field

  • At least 1 year experience writing and editing in a journalistic capacity

  • Proficiency in spelling, grammar, and syntax; AP (Associated Press) style

  • Experience using WordPress

  • Social media

  • A reliable form of transportation
