Documentary Film Production Intern (Cinematography and Sound) - Next Mile Collective/Diaspora Diaries

Diaspora Diaries is a documentary platform dedicated to immigrant stories. Our tagline: Borders shift. Stories endure. We produce cinematic episodes following immigrants and diaspora communities around the world, told in the storyteller's own language with English subtitles, alongside an editorial web platform. Our first episode is live on YouTube, our second, Venezuelan Voices, filmed in Bogotá, is rolling out now, and our full public launch is planned for later this year. We shoot on location internationally and treat every frame and every mix with the care of prestige documentary work.

Job Description

This is a in person, paid, one weekend opportunity. Deadline to apply is July 31.

Diaspora Diaries is producing its next documentary episodes ahead of a public platform launch later this year, and we are looking for an intern who wants real credits on real documentary work. You will work directly with the founder and our directors on both production and post. Responsibilities include assisting with camera setup, framing, and lighting on local shoots and interviews; logging, syncing, and organizing footage from international shoots; cutting social trailers and short vertical edits from episode footage; assisting with sound, including location audio capture, dialogue cleanup, and mixing; and helping with subtitling and color pipeline tasks. You will see how a small documentary operation runs end to end, from field capture to a finished episode on screen.

Qualifications

Current Valenti student in Film/Digital Cinematography or a related major, comfortable with a professional editing workflow (Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve), and able to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred: coursework or hands on experience in documentary or nonfiction production, experience with location or post audio, and fluency or working knowledge of Spanish or another second language.

How to Apply

Email your resume and portfolio to Nathan Meyer at nathan@nextmilecollective.com. This is a in person, paid, one weekend opportunity.
