Communications Intern - First3Years

First3Years nurtures the early relational and mental health of infants and toddlers in Texas. In deep collaboration with caregivers, parents, and professionals, we cultivate strong early childhood systems, educate the workforce, and advance best practices. Guided by our Early Relational Health (ERH) framework, we elevate the importance of nurturing relationships, everyday moments of connection, and community collaboration to ensure all infants and toddlers thrive during their first three years.

Job Description

The Communications Intern will support First3Years’ statewide efforts to raise awareness about the importance of the first three years of life and promote our mission-driven programs. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, messaging, and digital storytelling.

Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the creation of digital content for social media, newsletters, and the website.
Supporting communications campaigns aligned with organizational initiatives and events (e.g., Baby Day, awareness campaigns).
Helping design marketing materials, infographics, and other outreach tools.
Conducting research on communications best practices for nonprofit advocacy and engagement.
Tracking analytics to assess communications impact and recommend improvements.
Collaborating with staff to ensure messaging reflects First3Years’ values and Early Relational Health framework.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Current undergraduate or graduate student in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter).

Preferred:
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools.
Knowledge of nonprofit communications and interest in early childhood or public health.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
