Marketing & Communications Intern - Families Empowered
Families Empowered is a community-based, women- and minority-led non-profit parent service organization that envisions, one day, all families will have access to schools that work, for them. With a leadership team and staff comprised of multiple first-generation college graduates, we deeply understand the importance of empowered parents, and the positive impact they can have on Texas communities. Each year, we reach out to tens of thousands of Texas families in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Tarrant County through in-person events, our bilingual call center, text, and social media, and provide them with free personalized support to help them navigate their many great K-12 school options.
Job Description
The Marketing & Communications Internship is a full or part-time position that will help to reach key stakeholders throughout Texas. The role focuses on social media copywriting and scheduling, as well as light graphic design.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Copywriting and development of social media content for Families Empowered and/or incubated organizations.
• Drafting, proofreading, and copyediting collateral, social media posts, and digital copies.
• Performing special projects as needed (including production support for a 30-minute radio show starting in September on KPFT).
• Designing social media graphics.
Qualifications
• Extremely organized, detail-oriented.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Moderate knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Programs
• Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.)
• Entry-level understanding of graphic design principles and best practices, and software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly in Spanish (verbally and in writing) preferred.

RADIO SHOW PRODUCTION SUPPORT
• Assist producers and hosts with show preparation.
• Research topics, guests, and current events for broadcasts.
• Help write scripts, show notes, and interview questions.
