Marketing Communications & Copywriting Internship - The Health Museum
The John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science, also known as The Health Museum, is an interactive science center located in the heart of Houston’s Museum District. Our mission is to empower healthier living by fostering wonder and curiosity about health, medicine, and the human body. We are a member institution of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center and a Smithsonian Affiliate. Position Summary
Marketing is responsible for supporting outreach and communication efforts, including social media, digital content, and community engagement. Candidates are expected to be creative, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines. A flexible schedule with some weekend or evening events may be required.
• Help create/edit content for the museum website, marketing materials, blogs, videos, and press releases
• Re-create/edit museum contracts and applications into digital, user-friendly formats
• Assist with copy/scripting of museum’s science video content
• Work with various departments for program descriptions and departmental communications
• Help write blogs for the website for specifically identified programs
• Create/edit copy for e-blasts and newsletters
Required Skills
Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to work with various people in different departments to determine their needs and offer suggestions to complete the project or blog.
· School or personal computer and email access will be needed as the museum does not have those provisions for interns.
· Will receive an ID card and parking/access card temporarily while working at the museum.
· We can work with your school schedule with flexible hours while ensuring you meet your class goals and objectives. This would ideally require time at the museum each week to determine what projects needed to be completed, while planning, writing and editing could be done remotely
