Houston Chronicle Summer Visuals Intern - Hearst

Job Responsibilities

- Photograph and film daily and enterprise assignments in coordination with editors and reporters
- Pitch, shoot, edit and publish short-form videos optimized for social platforms
- Identify visual storytelling opportunities across beats and social trends
- Edit and caption photos and videos with attention to accuracy, tone and engagement
- Collaborate with reporters, editors and the audience team to translate Chronicle journalism into visual stories
- Contribute ideas for visual storytelling that strengthen the Chronicle’s reach and connection with audiences

Qualifications

Required:
- Current juniors, seniors or a recent graduate
- Valid driver's license and access to a car
- Able to live in Houston and work in the Chronicle’s office at least 3 days a week

Preferred:
- Prior experience at a college news publication or professional news organization.
