CLASS Dean’s Summer Internship Program

CLASS Dean’s Summer Internships provide students with valuable experiences working at Houston-area local government agencies and not-for-profit organizations.  Participants explore career possibilities and develop marketable skills and professional networks.  Each internship emphasizes different areas, providing opportunities for students from a variety of CLASS majors and with diverse future plans.  This is a paid internship.  Participating students receive $5,000 in recognition of their contributions to the Houston community.  This will be made in two installments to the student’s UH account via the Scholarship Award Memo (SAM) process, with the second payment made after the successful completion of the internship.

Internships run from June 8 to July 31, 2026.  Interns are expected to work between 20 to 40 hours per week in their agencies (with details and scheduling differing among the agencies).   Interns must commit to work for the entire internship period.

The internship opportunities for summer 2026 are

  • Community Family Centers

  • Harris County Attorney’s Office, Community Relations Office

  • Heritage Society Houston

  • Houston Mayor’s Office

The application deadline for summer 2026 is Monday, March 9, 2026.
