Multimedia Specialist - UH Hobby School of Public Affairs
Develops and provides web-based multimedia content and services in support of the online marketing and communications strategies of a department or unit.
1. Provides web design and maintenance support for a department or unit including creating interactive media and interface designs.
2. Researches and develops themes and content ideas for online and print publications including conducting interviews, writing, editing, and publishing articles for various multimedia formats for instruction, Internet, news releases, recruiting, and marketing initiatives.
3. Provides photographic services to produce materials integrated across a variety of multimedia formats.
4. Provides videography services including motion graphic rending and audio/video conversion and editing.
5. Uses advanced multimedia software applications to create and publish graphic designs in accordance with departmental goals and objectives.
6. Develops and maintains content distribution networks through social media channels including content for feeds and snippets in various social media sites.
7. Researches and recommends new media technologies to advance program initiatives. Coordinates with faculty, staff, and external clients on media-related projects.
8. Creates and maintains a digital library of photographs, video, graphic designs, and program collateral.
9. Maintains all media related equipment, facilities, and supplies.
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The multimedia specialist will play a key role in sharing the mission and stories of the Hobby School of Public Affairs as part of its communications and marketing team. This position offers an opportunity to highlight the school's teaching, research, internships and public service opportunities through engaging content. This role is responsible for managing and executing the Hobby School's social media strategy, as well as capturing visual coverage of events, student experiences, programs and other activities.
Responsibilities include the following:
Manage the day-to-day activity across the Hobby School's and the dean's social media platforms.
Develop and maintain a social media content calendar, write dynamic copy and schedule posts across multiple platforms.
Monitor social media audience engagement and trends and respond to comments and messages.
Track content performance across various social media platforms and provide monthly reports that highlight key metrics and offer actionable recommendations.
Capture and edit high-quality photos of school events, student experiences, programs and other activities for various platforms, including the school's website, newsletter, marketing collateral and annual reports.
Shoot and edit short video content for social media, including Instagram Reels and promotional clips.
Compile information for student programs and activities for marketing campaigns, impact reporting or other documentation.
Manage the Hobby Happenings calendar to track key school events, deadlines and programming opportunities for timely promotion and for the communications team to use as a guide for content planning.
Contributes to website content updates.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
