Informational Interview Guide
An informational interview is a 20–30 minute conversation you initiate with a professional in a field you want to explore. It is not a job interview — it's a chance to learn from someone who's already doing what you're interested in. Most people are happy to share their story when asked thoughtfully.
Find Someone to Talk To
LinkedIn — search by job title, company, or UH alumni filters
Valenti faculty — they have industry connections and are happy to make introductions
Professional organizations — PRSSA, NABJ, AAF, and SPJ all have active Houston chapters
Career fairs — collect business cards and follow up within the week
