Research, Communications, Operations Intern - The Carrier Pigeon Post

The Carrier Pigeon Post, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, seeks to transform the lives of those presently and formerly incarcerated. To accomplish this, each month CPP publishes and distributes to prisons and reentry organizations a free of charge, 4-color, 8-page humanities newspaper filled with stories of hope, possibility, and change.

Job Summary

The Carrier Pigeon Post is seeking a motivated and creative intern to join our dynamic team for the summer. The Research, Communications, and Operations Interns will gain hands-on experience in various activities, researching articles, networking opportunities, content for social media, content for newspaper, grants, and areas that impact CPP. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and develop practical skills in a collaborative environment.

Sonya S. Cronin, PhD

Responsibilities

  • Research content related to CPP's mission and work.

  • Research networking opportunities with other similar organizations and conferences.

  • Research academic articles and data collected from other organizations.

  • Conduct market research and analyze the market.

  • Research SEO and Social Media optimization.

  • Research content that will aid in the development of marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and presentations.

  • Manage and update the CPP database.

  • Communicate with other orgs, and respond to letters from those who have been incarcerated.

  • Support the team with general administrative tasks, such as data entry and online filing.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Professional/CreativeWriting or a related field.

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft 365.

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Creative and enthusiastic attitude.

Compensation

$15/hour; 10 hours work per week.
