Multimedia & Social Media Intern - Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine and UH Health Family Care Center

The University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, established by the UH Board of Regents in 2017 and authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2019, welcomed its inaugural class in 2020 as the city’s first new medical school in 50 years. Guided by a mission to improve health and health care in Houston, Texas, and beyond, the College trains physicians with a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and a commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable care to communities across the state.

As part of this mission, the UH Health Family Care Center opened in 2022 to provide community-based primary care. The clinic offers integrated services in primary care, behavioral health, women’s health, pediatrics, and chronic disease management. Patients from across the region have access to quick appointments, telehealth options, and affordable care through insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and a Sliding Fee Discount Program.

Description

The Multimedia & Social Media Intern will support the communications team by developing content across social media platforms for the Fertitta College of Medicine and UH Health Family Care Center, assisting with graphic design projects, and capturing photos and videos for campaigns and events for marketing use.

Responsibilities include:

  • Content creation and scheduling on social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook)

  • Graphic design for digital and print use

  • Photography and videography for marketing purposes, including events, programs, b-roll and targeted campaigns

  • Editing photos and videos for use across platforms

  • Communications tied to photography and videography for social media, newsletters, and website (captions, storyline, emails)

  • Supporting general marketing and communications projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Ability to bridge student and professional communities through language, photography/videography and content creation

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools (preferred)

  • Photography and videography skills (shooting and editing, preferred)

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and content trends (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook)

  • Excellent writing skills with attention to brand tone and style

  • Organized, reliable, and proactive — able to manage tasks and meet deadlines

  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a team and a willingness to learn
