We are preparing The Polar Express, an ambitious youth orchestral, choral and theatrical holiday production combining live music, storytelling, cameras, audio, lighting and visual media.
Planned schedule
Friday, December 11, 2026: on-site rehearsal and production preparation (exact call times to follow).
Saturday, December 12, 2026, morning: technical setup, soundcheck and camera/audio/visual checks.
Saturday, December 12, 2026: concert currently planned for 5:00 PM.
Location: Church on the Rock Katy / Iglesia Sobre la Roca, 433 Barker Cypress Rd., Houston, TX 77094.
We are recruiting a small, supervised student crew, with assignments based on individual skills and availability. We expect opportunities in cinematography, production directing, live switching, broadcast workflows, sound, photography and digital storytelling, as well as stage transitions, equipment setup and breakdown. Students do not need to know every system; dependability, safe equipment handling and teamwork matter most. Participation can be for one or both dates as appropriate to the production plan.
This is an unpaid educational/volunteer opportunity with our 501©(3) nonprofit. We can discuss internship documentation or academic credit if approved by your institution. Student access and production assignments will follow our venue and youth-safety requirements. Detailed access instructions and call times will be sent after final site coordination.
Students may write directly to alvaro.carrillo@elsistematexas.org with their program/school, their relevant skills or experience, and availability on December 11 and December 12. A résumé or portfolio is welcome but not required.
