ExxonMobil is based out of the Houston Area in Spring, Texas. We are accepting applications for Public & Government Affairs (P&GA) interns.
About you
As a Public & Government Affairs (P&GA) intern, you will manage various internal and/or external communications projects. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute in a variety of areas supporting our global business operations, including media relations, employee communications, social media, executive speeches, corporate advertising, public policy and corporate citizenship.
Required Qualifications:
Current enrollment in a related bachelor’s degree or graduate program, such as business, journalism, mass communications, public policy, political science and international studies
Advanced written and oral communication skills; ability to understand and communicate complex topics; proficient in AP Style; strong presentation skills
Understanding of policy / government relations
Previous internship or other experience in business, public relations, media, government, or policy
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
Students with experience and interest in public relations, communications, international affairs and public policy. Prior experience in energy is not required.
Successful candidates may have experience in the following or similar areas (though not required):
Public relations or advertising agency
Corporate public relations
Journalism – local, wire or national news organizations
U.S. or state government – Senate, House of Representatives, Depts. of State/Trade/Energy

What you will do
As a Public & Government Affairs (P&GA) Intern, you will be given projects that are directly tied to business needs.
Potential Responsibilities
Draft external communication materials for community members, investors and other stakeholders, including digital media, press releases, fact sheets, articles and videos
Develop social media strategies for major announcements/operations and executive thought leadership
Support internal communications through employee forums, video production, newsletters and intranet sites
Provide recommendations for local or international corporate citizenship programs
Support research into energy, economic, and/or foreign policy issues
In addition to project work in your assigned area, you’ll have opportunities to engage with a wide range of experienced professionals and other students. A variety of social events both on and off site allow our interns and co-ops to engage further with their cohort, recent graduates, and other professionals and senior leaders across the organization.
The duration of our summer internships are typically 3 months. Successful interns may receive the opportunity to return for another intern or full-time employment.
