Intern - Athletic Orthopedic Knee Center

Athletic Orthopedic and Knee Center is an established business in the Memorial/Spring Branch area. The location is between Campbell and Echo Lane on the North side of the Katy Freeway (I-1 0).

We are looking for an intern for the fall semester—20 hours per week at a compensation rate of $15.00 per hour for 10 weeks. This position has the potential to become a permanent position for the right person.

The job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Create copy, photographs and graphics for established social media channels—Facebook, Instagram, Linked In.

  • Aid in coordination of community outreach events—primarily lectures For the public by local physicians.

  • Review all marketing materials and newsletters and make suggestions for revisions.

  • Assist with event planning for Athletic Orthopedics Research Foundation (this is a nonprofit organization that provides trainers in high schools) and low cost and free physicals for students who need them but cannot afford them.)

  • Visit referring doctors and take marketing materials to them.

Intern management will be designated as follows:

Weekly meeting with Paula Williams, practice manager at Athletic Orthopedics and Knee Center and Allison Jensen, PhD Administrator at Athletic Orthopedics and Knee Center. These managers will be responsible for weekly assignments, training and goal setting. The goal is to attract patients to the practice—and may be accomplished in many ways—Digital signage on site, marketing materials delivered to physicians, social media posts, community events and lectures, newsletters to patients. Emails to previous patients, etc. Both managers are very familiar with past marketing activities.

Desired Qualifications of Intern

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with social media

  • Creative thinking and attention to detail

  • Current junior or senior working toward a degree in marketing, communications or journalism

Orientation

During the initial orientation, the intern will be introduced to the staff, given instructions on computer usage and samples of all currently used and available marketing materials. Goals, expectations and marketing job description will be reviewed.

Exit Interview

An exit interview will be conducted at the end of the work session to assess work performance, student experience and recommendations and possible continuation of internship if desirable for both parties.
